Pastor Gilmer, affectionately known as “PG” has a passion to shepherd and mentor people for the Kingdom of God. 

The Gilmer’s came to Rockingham Church of God of Prophecy in August 2010. Their vision to minister to the community, city, and county has led to the name The ROC – Reaching Our Community. Pastor Gilmer truly has a desire to touch lives with the Gospel of Christ. All ministries at The ROC reflect our pastor’s vision for outreach while maintaining his ministry to The ROC’s congregation.

Pastor Gilmer accepted the call to ministry and was licensed as a credentialed minister with The Church of God of Prophecy in 1974. His education includes a bachelor's degree in bible theology and Music and a master's in divinity. He has served as State Youth Director, Christian Education Director and Youth Camp Coordinator for the states of Alabama and Florida for the Church of God of Prophecy. 

The Gilmer’s entered the pastoral ministry in 1982. Their pastoral service includes, Punta Gorda, Florida, Sanford, Florida, Fayetteville, North Carolina and currently serving in Rockingham, North Carolina. In addition to pastoral experiences, he has served on State Boards for COGOP and State Administrator for the state of North Carolina.  

Pastor Gilmer’s wife, Vonnie, possesses a passion for teaching children and the ministry in music. She has worked in Christian and Public Education over the last 24 years and volunteered in the summer camping ministry. Vonnie continues to serve as assistant principal at East Rockingham Elementary with Richmond County Schools. She also leads the Praise and Worship Ministry Team at The ROC, singing and playing the piano and keyboard.
